WEBSITE: www.wakegop.org/paul-terrell.htm
NAME: Paul Francis Terrell III
AGE: 41
OCCUPATION: Senior manufacturing maintenance technician
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. Class of 1993.
US ARMY: Active duty service in the US Army 1985-89. Paul served as a Air Traffic Control Systems and Sub Systems Repairman. Tours included Fort Sill, Oklahoma and the Republic of South Korea. Paul was proud to serve both citizens of the U.S.A. and of South Korea.
POLITICAL PARTY AND EXPERIENCE: Republican, campaign volunteer and informed voter.
CIVIC ACTIVITIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: Secretary/Treasurer of SunSplendor Homeowners Association since 2006. National Rifle Association Lifetime Member, Appalachian Trail Conservancy member.
WE THE PEOPLE: I should be elected to bring responsibility back to our government. Creating the processes needed to make our government open and available to the citizens of this great state. For too long the will of the people has been ignored by politicians who make their decisions based upon your fundraising abilities. I will get the things done to bring a drifting state government back in line with the will of the people of North Carolina.
ISSUES WITH MAJOR IMPACT ON US DAILY IN WAKE COUNTY:
EDUCATION: The money the state is apparently spending on the education budget is NOT getting down to the educators. The principals and teachers are not getting the resources that are needed to educate our greatest resource, our children. Somewhere there is a disconnect that has me worried for the future of our children, state and country. The money can be better spent keeping North Carolina’s teachers home and allowing them to further themselves in both education and professional abilities.
FAIR TAXES: Taxing citizens fairly has been proven to stimulate the economy and create more jobs. Excessive and burdensome taxes has been proven to create local and national recessions to include job losses. We can tax smartly and easily pay for the responsibilities required of all of us.
ROADS: Our roads are not safe and the ones being built fall apart before their time. D.O.T. needs to be reformed to take the decisions out of the hands of political appointees and given to the professionals. We need to have the roads built properly where they are needed and going to be needed. Getting roads built in your district is not a right of just D.O.T. board members, it is a right of all North Carolinians.
GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION: There are too many loop holes and interpretations of our current ethics rules. The laws and rules need to be made perfectly clear that we will not allow “PAY TO PLAY” of ANY kind. Open transparency is a must that has to be instituted In order to keep our government honest. Politicians and political appointees must abide by the highest possible standard of any citizen in this state.
